A group of 68 men who got together to learn to sing in 10 weeks for charity have successfully raised more than £10,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

Staffordshire Men Sing was set up to help bolster the numbers of a choir whose membership was dwindling, whilst also giving men an opportunity to learn how to sing.

On 24 January the men got together for the performance that culminated in them being joined by The Daleians and Chor Bach Choirs.

Organiser Steve Bristow, who is also a member of The Daleians said: "It's one of the most fantastic singing days I have ever had, a good half of the guys in the choir had tears running down their faces halfway through, me included."

"The guys must've put a lot of work in themselves to get to the standard that they got to in that short period."

Edward Smith was urged by friends to join the choir and is now looking to continue singing

Edward Smith is one of the men who joined the choir and became a second tenor.

In response to hearing the amount of money the group had raised he said: "It's amazing what we've achieved."

He told BBC Radio Stoke previously that he had been in and out of choirs but was encouraged by friends to join this one.

After the performance he said "it would be a nice thing to commit to, it's fired me up and I guess they haven't kicked me out so I must be able to make the right kind of noise".
