Men with a song in their heart, and without fear of performing in public, are being encouraged to join a mass choir for a concert in aid of cancer research.

Men United in Song is a project created by music education charity Peterborough Sings!, which was founded in 2011, and supports three choirs in the area.

It is looking for 40 men to join a choir - and learn to sing over several weeks - culminating in a concert at Peterborough Cathedral in May, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

"You'll learn to sing, meet new people, challenge yourself, perform live on stage and raise money for this much-loved and very important charity - what's not to like?", the charity said.

On its website, Peterborough Sings! said: "Men United in Song will sign up around 40 local men to take part in a nine-week pop-up singing project."

The charity is assuring potential singers that no previous experience is necessary, "just a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, get stuck in and give it a go".

"It's all about the journey, and we promise we'll have you singing - and loving it - in no time," the charity added.

More than 400 men sang at an event in Nottingham in May 2024 following the charity's appeal that year.
