Homes for 'young, working families' approved
LDRSPlans to build 53 houses on a brownfield site next to a supermarket in Bradford have been approved.
The homes, all of which will be classed as affordable, will be built on land next to Thornbury Medical Centre and the neighbouring Morrison's supermarket, which has been vacant for a number of years.
Plans to develop the site into a housing estate were first approved by Bradford Council in 2009, but that proposal never came to fruition.
Seventeen years on, the local authority has approved the new application, which was submitted by Breck Homes.
The plans include a mix of two, three and four-bed houses as well as maisonettes and an apartment building, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The developer, which submitted the application last year, said the housing would mainly be occupied by "young, working families".
They added: "The proposed development is located within a highly accessible location.
"The site is within easy walking distance of a wide range of services and facilities."
