A man was found seriously injured at a property in Micklegate last week, police say

A man has been charged in connection with a suspected stabbing in York city centre which left another man in a critical condition.

The victim, in his 40s, was found injured at a property in the Micklegate area at about 15:20 GMT on Thursday, according to North Yorkshire Police.

A man, one of eight people arrested following the incident, had since been charged with obstructing police, assaulting police and possessing a knife, a force spokesperson said.

Another man had been released with no further action, while three other men and three women had been released on bail while inquiries continued, they added.

Anyone who saw what happened, or who had information which could help the investigation, was asked by police to get in touch.
