A 14-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after being struck by a car in the early hours of the morning.

Wiltshire Police said the incident occurred in High Street in Yatton Keynell, near Chippenham, at about 00:15 BST.

A man in his 30s from Wick, in South Gloucestershire, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and causing injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with dashcam footage which might aid their investigation to come forward.
