Struck off nurse's High Court appeal fails

Emeka Umerah worked at Hungerford Nursing Home in Hungerford, Berkshire, when a colleague raised concerns after a resident fell and was injured in September 2020.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) found in May 2024 that he failed to contact the resident's family for at least three hours after the fall and failed to make an accurate record of the incident.
Mrs Justice McGowan found there were no grounds to overturn the NMC's decision to remove him from its register.
She said it was "a worrying aspect" of the case that "notwithstanding [the NMC's] findings, [Mr Umerah] was not sufficiently inspired or motivated to demonstrate acceptance and a willingness to improve."
