Warning as children 'launch fireworks' at people
Sunderland City CouncilParents of children who reportedly launched fireworks at people in a park have been warned their tenancies could be at risk.
Police said the fireworks were believed to have been let off at the ski slope at Silksworth Sports Centre, Sunderland, at about 18:00 BST on Monday.
Sunderland City Council said it had identified some of the children responsible and enforcement action could include "tenancy consequences" for parents.
Northumbria Police said no-one had been injured and it had increased patrols in the area.
The Labour-run local authority said its community safety team and police were "urgently responding to reports of large groups of youths gathering at Silksworth Ski Slope and launching fireworks at members of the public - behaviour that could lead to catastrophic injuries".
It asked parents to speak to their children if they were visiting the ski slope.
"Make sure they are not involved and understand the serious consequences of anti-social behaviour."
Anyone who sees anti-social behaviour is asked to report it.
