Fans of long-running BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who are being offered "the chance to own a piece of television history" at an online auction of "iconic" memorabilia.

Among the items to go under the hammer are a sonic screwdriver used by David Tennant, when he returned as the 14th doctor – and a "screen-matched" cracked Tardis from Eve Of The Daleks (series 13).

The lots, which are available for public sale for the first time, also include the Joy To The World light-up sonic screwdriver recently brandished by the 15th doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, and a dalek from Asylum Of The Daleks (series seven).

All lots start at £100, with 20% of the hammer proceeds donated to BBC Children In Need.

Doctor Who first aired in 1963, with the original series coming to an end in 1989. It was relaunched in 2005, as a BBC Wales production led by then-showrunner and head writer Russell T Davies, and is filmed in Cardiff.

"This is a truly special collection that reflects the depth, imagination and enduring legacy of Doctor Who," said Stephen Lane, chief executive of Propstore who are hosting the sale.

"Propstore is incredibly proud to be working with BBC Studios to bring these remarkable artefacts to auction and to help find them new homes where they'll be appreciated and preserved.

"Supporting BBC Children In Need through this sale makes it even more meaningful, and we're excited to offer fans and collectors the chance to own a piece of television history while contributing to an important cause."

The collection, which includes pieces from 2005 through to 2025 - incorporating Tennant's double tenure as the doctor, and Gatwa's more recent incarnation - will be auctioned online from Tuesday, until 19 February.

Among the many costumes and props on offer are River Song's (Alex Kingston) costume from Rain Gods, a pregnant Amy Pond's (Karen Gillan) ensemble from series five's Amy's Choice, and Gatwa's outfit from The Reality War (series 15).

The NSDA4 dalek has appeared in every dalek story since 2012, as well as being used extensively in official promotional appearances, including at Buckingham Palace.

Sarah Bold, head of marketing, global brands and licensing at BBC Studios, said the auction gave fans and collectors the chance to ensure "these iconic items are preserved and appreciated for generations to come".

"Doctor Who has an extraordinary legacy, and this auction is a rare opportunity for fans to own pieces that have shaped its history."
