Woman, 20, dies while kayaking on river

The body of a 20-year-old woman who died while kayaking on a river has been pulled from the water.

The woman got into trouble while on the River Tees at Barnard Castle, County Durham, just before 14:00 GMT.

Her body was recovered about two hours later after a search involving coastguards and Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team.

A Durham Police spokesperson said the woman's family had been informed.
