The family of a 20-year-old man who died in a crash which left the car he was driving on its roof say their "hearts are destroyed".

Jordan Orrock, from South Shields, died on the A1(M) near Chester-le-Street on Sunday night. Police, who shut the main route for hours after, believe the car struck the central reservation.

A passenger in the car, also aged 20, died later in hospital and a second passenger, a man of the same age, was seriously injured.

The driver's family described him as the "life and soul of the party who lit up every room he walked into".

Orrock, who was driving a black Mercedes A Class, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tribute released via Durham Police, his family said: "Jordan will be sadly missed by his mam, Angela, his siblings Ryan, Lewis, Jamie, and Charlie, his right-hand man, his dog, Tyson, and his beloved family and friends."
