Two people seriously injured in car and lorry crash

Two people in their 80s were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash.

Cambridgeshire Police were called to a collision - involving a silver Ford Kuga and a white DAF lorry - on the A1139 Fletton Parkway, near Boongate, Peterborough, just before 11:30 GMT on Monday.

The driver of the Ford, an 81-year-old man from Whittlesey, and the passenger, an 80-year-old woman also from Whittlesey, were taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they remain.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured and remained at the scene to assist officers, police said.

An investigation has been launched and anyone with information including dash-cam footage has been asked to contact the police.
