A drug dealer who was found to be in possession of large amounts of cocaine, as well as dangerous weapons, has been jailed for five years.

Thomas Harris, of Bourton Close, Witney, was jailed during a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on 16 January.

The 30-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of an offensive weapon and one count each of being concerned in the supply of and possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Thames Valley police said the conviction came following a joint operation between its neighbourhood, drug and road policing teams.

The force said officers had followed Harris' white Volkswagen Scirocco through Witney after it triggered a camera at about 12:30 GMT on 19 November.

Officer's stopped the vehicle and carried out a search, which uncovered a silver tin containing 52 bags of white powder, later confirmed to be cocaine, and two mobile phones.

Having arrested Harris, a search of his home address was conducted, where more class A drugs and drug-dealing paraphernalia were found.

A butterfly knife and an extendable baton were also discovered at the address.

Investigating officer PC James Carey said: "This is a satisfying conviction off the back of good work from multiple teams working to disrupt illegal drugs supply in Witney."

"The teams have worked hard to bring Thomas Harris, a significant member of the drug trade, to justice so I'm proud of this outcome."

"We will continue our relentless pursuit to fight drug-dealing and put dealers before the courts as they bring misery to our communities, who we'll always protect."
