Plans have been submitted to turn a Grade II listed former solicitors' office into apartments.

If the plans are approved, the former Burstalls Solicitors on Lowgate, in Hull's Old Town, would be converted into 17 apartments.

The building has been vacant for more than a year, according to planning documents.

The application will be decided by Hull City Council.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the five-storey building would be converted into 15 one-bed apartments, one two-bed and one three-bed.

The building would undergo a thorough refurbishment and, while the exterior would see "no visible impact", the internal layout would be "optimised for residential use, based upon national space standards", according to the plans.

The application said the proposals would "deliver high-quality town centre living while preserving the architectural integrity of the building and retaining its contribution to the historic streetscape in this sensitive location".

According to the plans, the building is "no longer tenable" as an office due to a "shift in the local economic landscape".
