Residents are being offered the chance to meet the team building a £200m road.

The North Hykeham Relief Road will form the final section of Lincoln's ring road, with a new dual carriageway linking the A46 Pennells Roundabout to the Lincoln Eastern Bypass.

Three public information events will be held between 3 and 5 February and will also include some of the ancient artefacts found by archaeologists.

Councillor Michael Cheyne, Lincolnshire County Council's executive member for highways, said: "Not only can people find out more about construction plans and how the road will be built, there will also be information about road closures and some of the plans for giving back to the community."

"We'll also have several 4D models available at the events, in addition to a display of artefacts archaeologists discovered over recent months, including roman pottery and a Neolithic axe head dating back 5,000 years," Cheyne added.

"We encourage anyone interested in the project to attend."

The events will take place from 15:00 to 20:00 GMT at:

  • Tuesday 3 February - Waddington Community Hub
  • Wednesday 4 February - Bracebridge Heath Pavilion
  • Thursday 5 February - Bentley Hotel, Newark Road

Archaeologists said they had found evidence of a previously undiscovered Roman dwelling near Bracebridge Heath while excavating the site.

The council's executive voted unanimously to take the North Hykeham Relief Road project forward during a meeting on 6 January, subject to government sign-off of the final business case.

As part of the scheme, new roundabouts would be built at South Hykeham Road, Brant Road and Grantham Road.

A number of bridges would also be constructed, including at Station Road and over the River Witham.

Work is due to begin in March and take about three years to complete.
