A dog has been rescued by a lifeboat crew after becoming stranded under a pier and cut off by a rising tide.

The border collie became trapped under Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday at about 22:15 GMT.

Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, along with the RNLI's inshore lifeboat from Bembridge, were sent to locate the dog, found cold and soaking wet under the gangway.

RNLI crews were able to get the dog onboard the inshore lifeboat and back to safety where coastguards reunited him with his very relieved and thankful owner.
