Bus 'well alight' as crews arrive to tackle flames

Fire crews were called to the blaze on Victoria Road shortly after 09:00 GMT on Tuesday

Fire crews have been tackling a blaze on a single-decker bus.

The fire broke out on a service travelling on Victoria Road in Tamworth, Staffordshire, at about 09:15 GMT.

Firefighters found the engine compartment of the bus well alight when they arrived.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was thought to have started accidentally, adding no-one was injured.

A spokesperson for Arriva Midlands, the operator of the bus service, said: "The bus had been evacuated so no injuries have been reported.

"An investigation into this incident is ongoing."
