Public urged not to approach prisoner missing from open jail
Police ScotlandPolice have urged the public not to approach a prisoner who failed to return to an open jail from an approved home visit.
The alarm was raised when James Fitzpatrick, 36, did not report back to HMP Castle Huntly in Dundee on Tuesday.
He was last seen in Irvine town centre about 11:20 on Monday and it is thought he may have boarded a bus heading to Ardrossan.
Officers said extensive inquiries were ongoing to trace Fitzpatrick, who has connections in the Ayrshire area.
He is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build, with short brown hair.
When last seen he was wearing a black Nike tracksuit with white stripes down the arms and legs.
Fitzpatrick was carrying a yellow JD Sports carrier bag and a black holdall.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Members of the public are advised not to approach him if they see him."
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the force or Crimestoppers.
