A man has been charged with wounding after another man was stabbed on a coach on a motorway.

Officers were called to reports of a stabbing on the M6 Toll southbound, between junction seven and eight, near Cannock, Staffordshire, at about 08:15 GMT on Sunday.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries but had since been discharged, Staffordshire Police said.

Lee Pountain, 41, of Hexham, Northumberland, was charged with wounding with intent and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, officers added.

He is due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre later.

The M6 Toll was closed for a short time following the incident.
