Scammers are telling Jersey Water customers to renew their water insurance but the firm says it does not offer this product

Scammers have been targeting Jersey Water customers with unsolicited phone calls, the company has warned.

It said it had received reports people were being told to renew "water insurance" by callers claiming to be from the utility company, who also requested a payment or personal information on the phone.

The company said on Facebook said it did not offer water insurance and would not contact customers to request payment or personal information for this reason.

"If you receive a call claiming to be from or about Jersey Water and feel unsure about its legitimacy, end the call immediately and contact our Customer Services team directly," it said.
