Plans to tackle vehicle-related issues approved
Jenny GaffneyA council has approved new orders to tackle ongoing vehicle-related issues in a Surrey town.
On Tuesday, Tandridge District Council agreed to implement a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in Caterham.
The council said that the policy was scheduled to begin within three months and operate for a minimum of three years.
The PSPO is in response to a consultation from residents who reported recurring problems including pavement parking, excessive horn use, vehicles causing obstruction and threatening or intimidating behaviour.
Residents previously told the BBC about the ongoing issues with pavement parking in the town.
According to the council's community services committee report, residents reported concerns in Croydon Road, Station Avenue and the Croydon Road service road.
The PSPO would allow council officers to issue fines.
