Tandridge Police say Caterham Railway Station is one of the designated areas within the dispersal order

A dispersal order is to be put in place in a Surrey town as police increase patrols.

The initiative in Caterham will be start at 11:00 GMT and last until 18:00 GMT.

Tandridge Police said in a statement on social media that the dispersal order will cover areas including Caterham Rail Station, Church Walk Shopping Centre, Morrisons, Waitrose, Lidl and their car parks.

Parts of Croydon Road, Godstone Road and surrounding side roads are all within the area.

Officers say the policy will enable police and police community support officers (PCSOs) to direct anyone either committing or believed to intend to commit anti-social behaviour to leave the designated area.

"Should they return while the dispersal order is in place or fail to comply, they will be subject to arrest," police added.
