A dog had to be rescued from a cliff after he "got carried away" when he explored his family's garden, a rescue service has said.

Bracken the spaniel was with his family at their home in Sedbury, Forest of Dean, when he got lost in the lower end of their garden.

He was stuck on a cliff, and his family could not reach him, rescuers said. The SARA Beachley Rope Rescue and Lifeboat Teams were called out about 15:00 GMT on Saturday to support the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service in the dog's rescue.

The two teams lowered a firefighter down the cliff and then safely retrieved him.
