The States of Alderney says a ferry service is crucial for the island

Bidders will be invited to submit their proposals to operate the "vital" Alderney to Guernsey ferry for 2026.

The States of Alderney has said the service "continues to offer important connectivity" to the island and it will offer a subsidy to the provider it selects.

It follows a review of the service by the State's economic development committee after the 2025 season.

Chairman Stuart Clark said: "Reliable transport links are absolutely vital for Alderney's community and economy."

He said the committee wanted to ensure "the best possible service for passengers and provide confidence in the sustainability of the route for the year ahead."

The ferry is not running this winter and ended the season early because of adverse weather conditions.
