The Office of the Data Protection Authority said the registration window would close at the end of February

Guernsey companies and charities managing personal information are being asked to register or renew their data protection registration.

The Office of the Data Protection Authority said every organisation working with information such as contact details or opinions was legally obliged to register.

The authority said all organisations in Guernsey with information which may identify individual people including staff, clients, business contacts, service users and tenants must register by the end of February.

It said registration fees for companies with fewer than 50 employees was £62.22 and £2,488.80 for those with 50 or more but charities did not have to pay.
