A man has been jailed for six yearsafter killing a woman in a crash in East Yorkshire.

Susan Whittles, 70, died after the car she was driving was involved in a crash with another car at a B1253 crossroad near Rudston just before 15:00 GMT on 24 November 2023.

On the day he was due to stand trial, Timothy Kusemi, 41, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Kusemi, of Lower Bedfords Road, Romford, was also given an 11-year driving ban at his sentencing at Hull Crown Court earlier.

Paying tribute, her husband, Bill, who was also injured in the crash, said: "Sue was a lovely wife to me and best pal over the years. We were a unit."

Bill added: "She was a much-loved nan to Anna and Oliver, and they miss her so much.

"A much-respected local preacher, guide leader and active supporter of Riding for the Disabled - what an awful waste!"
