Four men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two pedestrians were hit by a car.

Cumbria Police said the two male victims, one aged in his 40s and the other in his 50s, were seriously injured in the crash in Barrow on Friday at about 23:05 GMT.

One has since been discharged from Furness General Hospital, while the other remains at the Royal Preston Hospital.

The four men had been bailed while inquiries continued, a force spokesman said.

They added they believed the men were hit by a white Jeep in Buccleuch Court, and said a vehicle suspected of being involved was seized on Abbey Road.

Police have asked any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage to contact police.
