Organisers say Illuminate will provide a "glowing showcase" for Gainsborough

Fire sculptures and animated monsters will feature in a "vibrant" winter festival.

Illuminate Gainsborough, an annual free family event, will be held on 21 February from 18:00 to 20:00 GMT.

West Lindsey District Council said Gainsborough Old Hall and All Saints' Parish Church would be transformed into "a glowing showcase of creativity and heritage".

Schoolchildren and community groups will kick off the evening by leading a lantern parade through the town's streets.

People are invited to bring their own lantern or pick up free lights on the night.

Other highlights are due to include a "fire garden", with sculptures and performers illuminating the church grounds, and shadow-puppet workshops.

Meanwhile, a show called There Be Monsters will see animations being projected on to Gainsborough Old Hall.

Councillor Matt Boles, the chairman of West Lindsey District Council, said: "Illuminate Gainsborough has become a shining example of what our community can achieve together.

"This year's theme, Through The Window, invites us to see our town from a fresh perspective – celebrating its rich heritage while embracing creativity and inclusion."

The festival has received funding from Arts Council England, West Lindsey District Council and Gainsborough Town Council.
