Man arrested after suspected stabbing in Paisley

A 67-year-old man has been arrested after another man was injured in an incident in Paisley.

Police were called to a house in the town's Blackstoun Road at 19:05 on Monday evening.

Specialist officers including firearms officers attended and a 66-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, consistent with being stabbed. His condition is described as stable.

The 67-year-old man was traced at a property in the Westwood Gardens area nearby a short time later. He was arrested and inquiries are ongoing.

Ch Insp Iain Farmer thanked the public for their patience and assistance.

"I understand this was a concerning incident for the local community. However, I would like to offer reassurance that there was no risk to the wider public and we are treating this as targeted," he said.
