Residents in the north of the Isle of Man have been warned of a further week of disruption along a rural road during a resurfacing project.

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said the completion of work on the Clenagh Road, which runs between Lezayre and Jurby, had been delayed by rainy weather.

As a result, the current road closure has been extended until 7 March.

The work originally began in early November, with the project paused on 19 December before restarting on 19 January.

The DOI said "operational delays" were largely caused by heavy rain and very low temperatures, which were "not conducive to successfully laying asphalt".

It meant additional time was needed to complete works at the Sandygate end of the road, the department added.
