A nursery that was ravaged by a fire has relocated 10 miles away, its owner has announced.

The blaze engulfed two buildings at Tigers Day Nurseries on Turnpike Road, Thatcham, on Tuesday at about 01:30 GMT. The nursery for children aged from three months to five years has been closed ever since.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said an investigation has been started, however due to the structural safety concerns of the building, this has been postponed.

Owner Alison Huntley announced that the company's old site in Theale, 10 miles away, will open on Monday 16 March, but it has plans for temporary buildings at it's Thatcham site.

Huntley said staff have been working "really hard behind the scenes" during a "really tough" week.

She said the company's old site in Theale will open on Monday, with capacity for 76 children, following discussions with Ofsted.

The site is being re-decorated before the opening.

Huntley said modular buildings are being built at the Thatcham nursery ravaged by the fire, which will have capacity for around 75 children.

"[Suppliers] will be on site in the next three to four weeks, fully equipped, fully ready for the children to use."

She thanked everyone who has offered support, which she said has been "absolutely incredible".

The nursery is expected to update parents again on Wednesday.
