Three people have been charged following the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a car in Barnsley.

Liam Green, 45, died at the scene after he was struck by a white VW Touareg on Rose Tree Avenue, Cudworth, at about 17:00 BST on Friday.

South Yorkshire Police said Mark Wigley, 60, Sarah Louise Wigley, 38, and Neil Shaw, 53, all of Royston Road, Barnsley, had been charged with murder.

All three have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

A 33-year-old man and a boy aged 17 arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder have been released on bail.

The victim's family paid tribute to him on Sunday, saying they hoped he was "at peace now".

"We all love you very much, sending you big hugs from your mam, sons, brother and family," they said.
