Motorcyclist seriously injured after A-road crash

A motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash on a major A-road in Somerset.

The incident happened on the A371 between Shepton Mallet and the junction with Ham Lane, near Croscombe, on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed earlier, but reopened shortly before 18:00 BST.

Avon and Somerset Police said the motorcyclist is currently in hospital with serious injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

The new homes will be built on land on the southern edge of Shepton Mallet.
