Five ducks, named after stars of the Jeremy Clarkson TV show Clarkson's Farm, are searching for a new home before Christmas, rescuers said.

The five bonded birds, dubbed "the Clarkson boys" by the RSPCA, have been named Jeremy, Kaleb, Charlie, Alan and Gerald.

They were taken in after welfare concerns and are now at the RSPCA's Block Fen centre in Cambridgeshire.

Alice Cooper, the centre's supervisor, said: "All five ducks are absolutely full of character, so we're hoping to find them a new family with some outdoor space and experience of keeping ducks - who can give them the ultimate Christmas gift: a loving new home."

'They love a good dunk'

She thanked the team at Block Fen, saying the ducks were now "fit, healthy, and ready to waddle their way into a new home".

"We often find these lovely boys huddled together for a snooze or splashing in their mini pond - they love a good dunk," she said.

"Every morning they make sure they're at the door quacking away, waiting for their breakfast."

The RSPCA reminded potential owners that pet ducks need easy access between a large outdoor area and a roomy indoor shelter, as well as a suitable water source, that must be kept ice-free in winter without chemicals.

It also said anyone keeping domestic birds such as chickens and ducks must follow current avian influenza regulations, including having an enclosed run that meets Defra's mandatory housing order.
