Crazy golf course aims to highlight town's past

A crazy golf course that features miniature models of two historical airship sheds, a statue of John Bunyan and a Corn Exchange where Glenn Miller played aims to be accessible all year round.

The 12-hole attraction, in Russell Park, Bedford, features well known landmarks from the area, including Bedford's Faces statue, the Castle Mound, Cardington Hangars, two bridges and a windmill.

Bedford Borough Council, which owns the park, said it offered "a playful introduction to the area's rich history".

The authority said it had partnered with mini-golf course designers Urban Crazy to create "a fun and engaging experience for all skill levels".

Thomas Healey, co-owner of The Kiosk Russell Park, which will manage and operate the attraction, said the previous course had good use in the summer but had struggled with upkeep.

"This new design is more compact, is accessible year-round and requires less maintenance," he said.
