A new canalside food and events venue is set to open in Brierley Hill later this month following a £500,000 redevelopment of a derelict industrial site.

Dockworks Waterfront, run by Digbeth Dining Club (DDC), will open on 27 February at the former steelworks beside Dudley Canal Marina.

The 7,000 sq ft site has been empty for about 15 years but was turned into a hospitality space for up to 650 people.

The venue will host up to seven street food traders in rotation, along with live music, comedy, quizzes, sports screenings and independent markets, organisers said.

DDC have run events and venues in the West Midlands since their founding in 2012.

Dockworks includes a two-room indoor space as well as a crescent-shaped outdoor food court and seating area overlooking the canal.

Jack Brabant, from DDC, said the project was designed to reflect changes in the hospitality sector, with flexible spaces and regularly changing food and cultural programming.

"We encourage all fans of casual dining and social experiences to join us and help us to shape this new community venue," he added.
