A 14-year-old boy has been charged after a suspected stabbing in the Cotswolds.

Gloucestershire Police said officers were called to an address on Upper Churnside in Cirencester shortly after 11:00 GMT on Sunday, where a teenager was arrested after two people suffered minor injuries.

The boy, from Wiltshire, has now been charged with wounding with intent, inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court later.

The two victims, a teenage girl and an adult man, were treated for their injuries at the scene.

Det Supt Ian Fletcher said there is no ongoing risk to the public following the incident.

"Officers responded quickly and were able to make a swift arrest. As a result of the work that has been put in to gather evidence, we have been able to bring about charges quickly," he said.

"Police officers from the Cotswold Neighbourhood Policing Team have been carrying out reassurance patrols in the area. If anyone has any concerns, we would encourage you to speak to them."

The boy cannot be named for legal reasons.
