A 13-year-old girl who died in a house fire in Kent just three days after Christmas has been named by police as Lily Childs.

The blaze in White Admiral Way, Hamstreet, near Ashford, started just after midday on 28 December and, at its height, six fire crews worked to extinguish the flames, which had spread through the semi-detached property.

A second child and an adult were also taken to hospital as a result of the fire and three firefighters had minor injuries.

The circumstances behind the fire were not being treated as suspicious, police previously said.

Ann Millington, Kent Fire and Rescue Service chief executive, offered her condolences to everyone affected following the fire and said a volunteer response team had been offering crew welfare and support.

A welfare hub has also been set up at Hamstreet Village Hall where support was available for the community.
