Operator Northern said replacement coaches could not run in the area

Rail passengers faced disruption earlier following a landslip.

Services between Millom and Corkickle in Cumbria were affected until about 10:00 GMT after a landslip between Seascale and Drigg, which happened on Wednesday.

Operator Northern said planned replacement coaches could not run because flooding had closed parts of the A595, and its transport supplier deemed it unsafe to continue.

It added services were now returning to normal, but some some trains might be delayed.

Network Rail said it was investigating the landslip and had advised passengers not to travel between Millom and Corkickle.

Services between Whitehaven and Carlisle were not affected by the disruption.
