Plans for 275 homes in town unveiled to public
Cavanna HomesPlans for more than 250 new homes on the edge of a growing town have been unveiled by a developer.
Cavanna Homes South West showcased its proposal for 275 properties on the western edge of Bridgwater, in Somerset, at a public consultation on 29 September.
If approved, the estate would add to the firm's other Bridgwater development called Centenary Heights, where permission has been granted for 675 new homes.
A spokesperson for Cavanna Homes said: "The proposed development of the site has been carefully considered so that ecological features, such as hedgerows, woodland, and existing habitats, will be preserved where possible."
More than 100 people attended the public consultation, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said, adding a planning application is expected to be submitted to Somerset Council by Christmas.
Cavanna Homes is already working with Martin Grant Homes to build 675 homes, a primary school and a community building north of the A39 Quantock Road.
The firm said its second proposed development would be accessed via a new junction in Quantock Road, and would be close to the new primary school and the relocated Haygrove School.
Daniel MumbyA spokesperson for Cavanna Homes said: "The proposed development will provide a continuation of the spine road which will facilitate a bus route through phases one, two and three.
"There are a number of signed off-road and on-road cycle routes from Wembdon providing linkage to Bridgwater and the surrounding areas, and also to National Cycle Network route 3, which runs south to Taunton and east to Glastonbury.
"There is the potential opportunity to incorporate a strategic cycle corridor from Bridgwater to Cannington through development on to Wembdon Hill via Skimmerton Lane."
