Two ducklings have been rescued after they got stuck down a drain in the middle of a motorway.

The pair of ducklings were found in the drain on the central reservation of the M27 between junction nine for Whiteley and Park Gate and 10 for Fareham, Hampshire, at about 11:00 BST on Monday.

The westbound carriageway was closed briefly while firefighters pulled the pair safely from the drain.

They were passed into the care of an RSPCA officer and reunited with their mother, who was found waiting for them on the hard shoulder.
