Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into a reported spiking incident in Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Police issued CCTV images of two men they wanted to trace in connection with an incident in Retford during the early hours of 22 February.

Following the appeal, two men were arrested on Monday, the force added.

A 24-year-old man and another man, 28, were arrested on suspicion of causing or administering a poison/noxious thing with intent to injure/aggrieve/annoy.

Det Insp Jackie Price said: "Spiking is a malicious crime which can have a significant, traumatic impact on victims and their feelings of safety.

"We take reports seriously and continue to work proactively within the night-time economy to safeguard victims from harm.

"I'd like to thank everyone who shared our appeal for information as our inquiries continue into this incident."
