Christopher Boyd was jailed for six years for robbery, having a knife in a public place, burglary of a house, and theft

A man who burgled a house and took the owner's car before robbing a shop with a stolen knife has been jailed for six years.

Christopher Boyd, 43, of Lichfield Road in Stafford, stole alcohol, food, vapes, bank cards, a driving licence, tea towel and a knife from a home in Weddington, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, in the early hours of 3 January.

He also took a set of car keys, made off with the owner's Mercedes, then targeted the shop at knifepoint shortly before 08:00 GMT on Lutterworth Road, Nuneaton, where he was arrested by police.

He was found guilty of robbery, having a knife in a public place, burglary of a house, and theft on 5 February at Warwick Crown Court.

Boyd was recorded on doorbell cameras attempting to enter a number of homes in Weddington with another man between 02:20 and 02:50 on the night in question, a Warwickshire Police spokesperson said.

His getaway in the black car was also captured on camera shortly after 03:45.

When arrested, Boyd was wearing a high-visibility jacket, left in the stolen car by its owner, who had just called police.

In addition to his sentence, Boyd was required to pay a victims' surcharge of £228.
