New town taxi rank and disabled parking installed

A new taxi rank and further blue badge parking spaces have been installed in Jersey's town, the government has said.

The taxi rank has been added on the Esplanade in St Helier to "better serve the public" and the International Finance Centre.

Three disabled parking bays will be introduced at Library Place and two spaces will be removed from the taxi rank in the same area - with one left to "meet demand".

Additional cycle parking will also be introduced in the area with an extension of the unloading bay to "assist deliveries".

Minister for Infrastructure Constable Andy Jehan said the improvements aimed to "make St Helier more accessible and better connected".

"Increasing disabled parking, refining taxi rank locations, and enhancing cycling provisions will support both residents and visitors in navigating the town more easily," he said.

Jehan added the new disabled spaces would be marked with blue paint to raise "greater awareness of the bays".
