A person has been rescued after becoming trapped in sea defence rocks in the middle of the night.

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said it arrived at Prince William Parade, in Eastbourne, East Sussex, shortly after 00:30 GMT on Friday following reports of a person being trapped in between rocks after falling.

Two crews went to the scene, along with the service's technical rescue unit, and the person was freed and left in the care of paramedics before firefighters left at about 03:15.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said it treated the person at the scene before taking them to hospital for further treatment.
