A man has been charged after a teenage girl was left with serious injuries in a crash.

The 14-year-old was a passenger in a Volkswagen Transporter which was hit by a suspected stolen car on 1 February near Lacock in Wiltshire.

Patrick McCann, 34, of Walnut Avenue in Hillingdon, has been charged with failing to stop a vehicle when required by an officer, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, escaping from lawful custody, breach of a court order and taking a vehicle without consent.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on 4 February.

The charges relate to an incident on Sunday when a police pursuit took place from Chippenham to Lacock, after officers spotted a suspected stolen car.

The suspected stolen vehicle then collided with the Volkswagen Transporter and the teenager was taken to Southmead Hospital.
