Two arrested after fatal New Year's Eve stabbing

A man and a boy have been arrested after a 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed in south-east London on New Year's Eve.

Emergency services were called to Grove Street, Deptford, at 12:35 GMT on 31 December.

John Temitope Onetufo, from Deptford, was treated for a stab wound to the chest but died at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said.

A 17-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Det Ch Insp Samantha Townsend, from the Met, said: "I can confirm that two arrests have now been made in connection with this tragic incident.

"This is a significant development, but our investigation remains ongoing as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened."
