Drug dealer who drove at 90mph jailed
South Yorkshire PoliceA drug dealer has been handed more prison time after police officers who had apprehended him for speeding found a "significant amount" of cocaine in his car.
Ross Daniels was arrested last year after he drove at speeds of 90mph (145km/h) in a 30mph (48km/h) zone and went onto the wrong side of the road during a police chase.
The 25-year-old was arrested for dangerous driving, possessing a weapon and assaulting police officers, and was jailed in September for two years and two months after admitting the offences.
After the drugs in his car were found to be cocaine, Daniels admitted possession with intent to supply and a further two and a half years was added to his sentence at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday.
Det Sgt Simon Greatorex said Daniels had shown "blatant disregard" for people's safety.
"Drug dealing fuels exploitation, violence and misery," he said.
"Those who profit from it show a callous indifference to the harm they cause … if you are a drug dealer, you are not untouchable and you are not above the law."
