Chris Ikouara's family said he was "kind, caring and deeply cherished by his family"

A young man who was stabbed to death in Birmingham was "taken from us far too soon", his family said, as police appeal for information regarding the murder.

Chris Ikouara, aged 19, was found fatally injured at an address on Olton Boulevard East in the Acocks Green area, shortly before 14:00 GMT on Tuesday, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tribute, his family said: "A son, a brother an uncle and a friend. Chris, known to friends as KC, was kind, caring and deeply cherished by his family."

West Midlands Police (WMP) said they were working "at pace" to establish the circumstances around his death and have set up a major incident public portal where images and video can be submitted.

"[Chris] was known for his caring nature, his humour and the way he always looked out for the people he loved," his family said in a statement.

"His absence has left a space that can never truly be filled nor replaced. His cheeky smile and goofy laugh will be missed.

"Chris will remain forever in our hearts, and his memory will continue to live on through everyone who was lucky enough to know him."

'Reassurance patrols'

Police said his family were being supported by specialist officers.

Det Supt Jim Munro, from WMP's homicide team, said: "Specialist officers have been working through the night and following several lines of enquiry as we work to find who was involved.

"Our thoughts remain with Chris's family, friends, and loved ones and we are continuing to offer them our full support."

A crime scene remains in place at the address where he was found.

WMP is keen to receive any dashcam or CCTV footage from around the area me before and after the stabbing.

"I would urge anyone with information – no matter how small it may seem – to please contact us immediately," Det Supt Munro said.

"We understand the concern this has caused in the local community, and local officers are there for you, carrying out reassurance patrols and ready to listen to any concerns you may have."
