Military towns to host National Armed Forces Day
BBCTwo towns with strong military ties have been selected to host the National Armed Forces Day in June 2026.
Aldershot and Farnborough in Rushmoor have been chosen to host the annual event, which will run from 22 - 27 June.
Councillor Sophie Porter from Rushmoor Borough Council called it "incredible" adding "it's our opportunity to bring the whole of the community together".
The local authority won a bidding war to secure the event which will see remembrance services, school visits and parades throughout the week.

Col Dave Kenny from the British Army said it will be a "spectacular event".
"It's really important for the society to come together to say thanks," he said.
Adding that it is not just about thanking the service personnel but also appreciating their supportive families too.
