Signs implying threats to second homes 'concerning'

Police are urging people to come forward if they can help identify those behind "concerning" stickers implying threats to second homes.

Cumbria Police said the stickers had been appearing on road signs in the Lake District area over the last few months.

The stickers show a drawing of a burning house and the writing "Your second home," though police have redacted a word at the start of the sentence.

A force spokesman said: "Offensive language and implying that property will be subject to arson will never be acceptable and police inquiries to identify those responsible are ongoing."

They added the force did not want anyone to "feel unsafe in their homes or accommodation" and would be working with the council to remove the stickers when needed.
